Eagles Make Lane Johnson Highest-Paid Offensive Lineman in the NFL with New Four-Year Contract

Lane Johnson is one of the best offensive lineman in the NFL, and has been so for some time.

The two-time Pro Bowler was a huge part of the fantastic offensive line that led the Eagles to their first-ever Super Bowl victory, when Philadelphia beat the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII a few years ago.

After all of these years of outstanding play, Johnson will finally be seeing his big payday, as he has agreed to a contract extension with the Eagles that will make him the highest-paid offensive lineman in the NFL.

Johnson, 29, was drafted by the Eagles with the fourth overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.

While Johnson did not receive a Pro Bowl, or All-Pro selection until 2017, Pro Football Focus recognized his excellence early on, rating him as the second-best right tackle in the NFL in his second season in 2014.

Johnson has continued to grade out as one of the best offensive tackles in the NFL in each season since and is now getting rewarded by the Eagles for that dominance.

This new contract should keep Johnson in Philadelphia for the remainder of his career.

The Eagles are going to need Johnson if they want a chance to make some noise this year, as they are currently sitting right behind the Cowboys in the NFC East standings.

If Philadelphia beats the lowly Miami Dolphins this weekend, they will have the same 6-6 record as Dallas. This season will likely boil down to the Eagles home game in Week 16 against the Cowboys to see who wins the division.

Regardless, the Eagles will continue to have their chances to stay atop the NFC East for the next couple of years, now that they have secured one of their best players in Lane Johnson long-term.

Ohio State Dominates in the Second Half to Avoid Upset in the Big 10 Championship

Ohio State came into the Big 10 Championship as the clear favorites over Wisconsin, as many had the Buckeyes pegged as the best team in the nation.

Then all of that hype was suddenly cast in doubt, after the Wisconsin Badgers thoroughly dominated the first half, setting the stage for a massive upset.

Ohio State then proved that they have the heart of a champion, as the Buckeyes found a way to completely shift the momentum in the second half.

Wisconsin was held off the scoreboard entirely and Ohio State scored 27 points to not only beat the Badgers, but still somehow beat them by 13 points.

Ohio State’s backfield of Justin Fields and J.K. Dobbins finally started to come alive after halftime, showing the nation that same incredible offense we had been watching all year.

Fields was very poised for a sophomore playing in the biggest game of his career, as he completed 19 of his 31 passes for 299 yards and three touchdowns.

Dobbins on the other hand picked up yards all game, finishing with a 172 rushing yards on 33 carries.

While the entire Ohio State team played well to get back into the game, Wisconsin did do them some favors, particularly on special teams.

K.J. Hill was another Ohio State player that made huge contributions to this victory, just like he has throughout his entire career.

In the process of making his seven catches for 83 yards, the senior receiver made some personal history in this game.

Along with setting a school record, Hill caught two touchdown passes, including the one that officially gave Ohio State the lead.

The crazy dichotomy of this game was that everyone spent the entire first half talking about how Ohio State wasn’t as good as we thought. Yet by the end of the game we may have realized they are even better.

You can list off the accomplishments now, as Ohio State wins their third-straight Big 10 Championship and finishes the year a perfect 13-0. But their is still more games to be played.

Ohio State will now definitely be in the College Football Playoff and are now just two victories away from a National Championship.

After watching their latest performance, there is no one that is doubting the Buckeyes in that tournament for all the marbles.

LSU Stays Perfect with Dominant Win Over Georgia in SEC Championship

The LSU Tigers magical season just kept rolling on Saturday afternoon, as they beat the Georgia Bulldogs handily in the SEC Championship Game.

In doing so, LSU completed the 16th conference title in the school’s history and the first since 2011.

The Tigers beat Georgia 37-10, completing what has been a very impressive season thus far. LSU is a perfect 13-0, despite playing their fair share of top-10 ranked teams.

While LSU has plenty of talented players up and down the roster, the presumptive Heisman Trophy-winner has gotten most of the credit for the Tigers success.

Joe Burrow has been a sensation this year, setting SEC records for the most passing yards, touchdowns and the highest completion percentage in a season.

Burrow was naturally the SEC Championship Game MVP, as he threw for 349 passing yards and four touchdowns. He also added 41 rushing yards as he just picked the Bulldogs defense apart.

Burrow was so locked in against Georgia that he even completed a first down pass to himself at one point.

LSU was likely to make it to the College Football Playoff even if they lost this game, but now they are all but assured a spot in the four-team playoff.

The only question is going to be where the Tigers are seeded and who they will be playing, when LSU tries to win their first National Championship since 2007.

Eli Manning to Return to Starting Lineup in Place of Injured Rookie Daniel Jones

Eli Manning will once again be the starting quarterback for the New York Giants, as they are set to face a division rival on Monday Night Football.

The Giants will be traveling to Philadelphia to play the Eagles and Manning will get the start as rookie quarterback Daniel Jones is out with an ankle sprain.

Manning may be a breath of fresh air at this point, as the Giants have lost eight-straight game behind Jones, as the young quarterback is still trying to find his footing in the NFL.

Jones won his first NFL start with a remarkable performance against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers back in Week 3, but hasn’t been the same since.

Turning over the football has been a problem for Jones, as his 15 fumbles lead the NFL. He has lost 10 of those fumbles and has also thrown 11 interceptions to his 18 touchdown passes.

Now Manning returns to the starting lineup and fittingly due to an injury of another starting quarterback.

That is because the Giants never had to worry about injuries when it came to Manning during his illustrious career in New York.

Manning now gets the chance to try to play spoiler for the Eagles, who are currently a win away from tying the Dallas Cowboys for first place in the NFC East.

While Manning has plenty of experience playing the Eagles, it is not exactly a matchup that is in his favor. Manning has a 10-20 career record against Philadelphia and lost to them in four-straight games.

Still, this is a chance for Manning’s career to come full circle. Manning made his appearance in an NFL game against the Eagles when he was a rookie in 2004, playing in mop-up duty for Kurt Warner.

Now he has the chance to play against the stark rival once again, to prove there is still a little left in the tank for the soon-to-be 39-year-old quarterback.

Manning is also sitting on a 116-116 career record and now has the chance to end his career over .500 if he wins this game. Tune in Monday night to see how this story unfolds.
