Klutch Sports is the sports agency run by LeBron James’ close friend and agent Rich Paul. Klutch represents many of the best basketball players in the NBA, namely LeBron’s newest teammate Antony Davis.
Paul has been building out an impressive client list ever since leaving CAA to form his own agency back in 2012. Now his work is paying off in a big way, as Klutch is set to become part of one of the biggest talent agencies in the world.
United Talent Agency is a major player in Hollywood, representing big-name movie stars such as Kevin Hart and Angelina Jolie.
Up to this point, United Talent did not have their own sports division, so they are essentially making Klutch that division. As part of the deal, Paul will still operate Klutch under that name, but will also be the head of UTA sports.
For years the narrative around Klutch is that it was a somewhat puppet agency for LeBron, where the NBA superstar could represent his friends and wield massive power in the league, with Paul just being the face.
While it is clear that Klutch’s motives align with LeBron’s at times, such as when Davis forced his way to the Lakers, this deal is more about Paul than it is about LeBron.
One of the biggest talent agencies in the world is looking at Paul and saying they want him to be the face and voice of their sports division. Having LeBron as a client surely helps that image, but it is still one that Paul has earned on his own.
Three years ago, Phil Jackson came under fire when he referred to LeBron James’ close friends and business associates as his posse.
James argued in behalf of his friend and all the hard work they have done to become the best at what they do in their respective fields.
As we see the massive success of Paul as an agent and Maverick Carter as a producer, it is about time we give these men the credit for the success that they have earned, rather than just giving all of that to LeBron.
Dallas Mavericks Guard Luka Doncic Suffers Moderate Ankle Sprain
Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic has taken the league by storm, becoming one of the frontrunners for the NBA MVP award this season.
However, Doncic’s MVP campaign will be halted after suffering a right ankle sprain during the Mavericks’ 122-118 loss to the Miami Heat.
Doncic landed on Miami Heat guard Kendrick Nunn’s foot just two minutes into Saturday’s contest and immediately left the game.
The reigning Rookie of the Year leads the NBA with 8 triple-doubles this season while averaging 29.3 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 8.9 assists per game.
The Mavericks have won 11 out of their last 13 games, and hope to continue their hot streak while their leader recovered on the sidelines.
Harden Records Second Straight Game Of 50+ Points, 10+ Threes As Rockets Rout The Magic
Houston Rockets guard James Harden has been on fire all season and shows no signs of slowing down.
Harden had his second straight game of 50+ points and 10+ three-pointers as the Rockets blowout the Orlando Magic 130-107 on Friday’s contest.
Harden, who leads the NBA in scoring at 39.3 points per game, scorched the Magic’s defense with 55 points and 10-15 shooting from the three-point arc.
The scoring outburst comes just two days after Harden scored 54 points on 10 three-pointers in Wednesday’s win over the Cavaliers.
The Rockets also shot 22-39 from three as a team, setting a franchise record for the most three-point makes by an Orlando opponent.
The Magic never had a chance in the contest and were unable to close the gap after a 10-point halftime deficit.
Orlando guard Evan Fournier was the lone bright spot, leading the team with 27 points.
With massive scoring efforts night after night, Harden has once again returned himself to the MVP conversation, hoping to win the award for the second time since 2018.
Lebron James, Anthony Davis Lead Lakers Over Heat
With the Los Angeles Lakers and the Miami Heat being two of the NBA’s hottest teams this season, their matchup had all the makings of a heavyweight fight.
The results were anything but disappointing.
On Friday night, All-NBA forwards Lebron James and Anthony Davis cooled off the Heat in the Lakers’ 113-110 road victory, snapping Miami’s home winning streak at 11.
James flirted with a triple-double, recording 28 points, 12 assists, and 9 rebounds, while Davis provided 33 points and 10 rebounds.
The duo was vital down the stretch, each making critical plays to stunt Miami’s comeback efforts.
Heat forward Jimmy Butler’s three-point attempt to tie narrowly missed in the final seconds. However, the NBA would announce after the game Butler was fouled twice on the play.
Butler lead Miami in scoring with 23 points, while Derrick Jones Jr. added 17 points and some high-flying dunks.
The Lakers are now tied with the Milwaukee Bucks for the overall record in the NBA at 23-3.
With the combination of James and Davis being nearly unstoppable this season, the Lakers have become the favorite for this year’s NBA title.
