Miami Dolphins Hurting Chances at Top Pick After Winning Again

The Miami Dolphins were getting ripped by the media early in the season for their overt strategy to tank this season for the No. 1 overall pick.

Miami traded all of their best players and were envisioning a future with Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa taking over as the face of the franchise.

Now all of sudden, those plans are in jeopardy, as the Dolphins have won two games in a row and are no longer in the driver’s seat for the top pick.

If they are trying to lose games, the Dolphins should really consider pulling Ryan Fitzpatrick from the starting lineup, as ‘Fitzmagic’ is going to strike a couple of times if he is leading your team.

While the Colts suffered this embarrassing lose to the Dolphins, it really boils down to the quarterback play, as backup Brian Hoyer had a rough game starting in Jacoby Brissett’s place.

Hoyer completed less than half of his 39 passes for just 204 yards and turned the ball over all game long. He threw three interceptions, which set up two field goals and a touchdown for the Dolphins.

Brissett should be back from his sprained knee soon and will be looking to get his team back on track after they have suffered back-to-back losses in his absence.

Meanwhile the Dolphins need to get back to their losing ways in a hurry if they want a real chance at Tua in the draft. The Bengals now look to have the inside track over Miami, as they are 0-9 this season.

Bengals Lose to the Oakland Raiders and Remain Winless

The Cincinnati Bengals have yet to win a game this season and the way things are going, they may not win one.

Dating back to last year, the Bengals are on a 12-game losing streak after dropping Sunday’s contest against the Oakland Raiders. That marks the longest losing streak in franchise history.

Last season, the Bengals went 6-10 overall but really fell off in the second half of the season, losing seven of their last eight games.

They actually went into a Week 9 bye last year with a winning record but have done nothing but lose since that point.

Former head coach Marvin Lewis left the team after that season, as the franchise announced a mutual parting of ways from the coach that had led them for 16 years.

Now Zac Taylor is the man in charge and he just can’t seem to buy a win.

Cincinnati has lost by a touchdown or less in half of their games, just failing to pull any of those tightly-contested games out.

Today they had their chances to beat the Oakland Raiders, but their offense proved to be too inept to get the job done.

Last week, the Bengals announced the end of the Andy Dalton era when they turned to Ryan Finley to see what the rookie quarterback could do.

Finley has not shown much to be excited about, only completing 13 of his 31 passes today for 115 yards.

He is clearly just a bridge to get through the end of the season, when the Bengals will look to draft their franchise quarterback with what we can only assume is the No. 1 overall pick at this point.

Maybe next year when the Bengals have Joe Burrow or Tua Tagovailoa starting at quarterback they can get some wins, but for now, there appears to be nothing but losing in Cincinnati’s future.

Lamar Jackson Sets Another Franchise Record in Blowout Victory Over the Texans

If you watched Lamar Jackson playing college football at Louisville, it was a sensation that was must-watch television.

Jackson dazzled each and every week, putting together ridiculous highlight packages and gaudy numbers to boot. He won the Heisman trophy in 2016 and was finalist to win it again the following year before coming into the NFL.

Now Jackson is doing similar things for the Baltimore Ravens, but is doing it against the best athletes in the world. Jackson cruised to a blowout victory over the Houston Texans on Sunday, beating them by a score of 41-7.

The Ravens are all of a sudden looking like Super Bowl contenders, with the most exciting player in the NFL at quarterback and a strong defense combining to make one great football team.

Over this past month, Jackson and the Ravens have earned impressive victories over the Seattle Seahawks, the New England Patriots and the Houston Texans. Those teams have a combined 22-7 record on the season.

Jackson continues to prove that he can be an elite passer, despite many people doubting if he was anything more than a great runner.

Against the Texans, Jackson went 17-for-24, with 222 yards and four passing touchdowns. In doing so, Jackson became the first Ravens quarterback to ever have multiple four-touchdown passing games in the same season.

Along with the passing, Jackson once again produced dazzling running plays that you will want to watch over and over again.

Jackson finished the game with 86 rushing yards on just nine carries and broke another record set by Michael Vick.

With each passing week, the MVP buzz just keeps getting louder for Jackson, as he is doing things we have never seen before in the NFL.

Jackson still has six more games to make his MVP case, before turning his attention to the most important thing, which is leading his team to a Super Bowl.

Regardless of if he wins the award, this season has been a resounding success for Lamar Jackson as he has proven once and for all that he can play the quarterback position and play it a very high level.

Kyle Allen’s Four Interceptions Doom Panthers in Loss to the Falcons

The hype train surrounding Carolina Panthers quarterback Kyle Allen is quickly slowing to a halt, as the clock is striking midnight on his Cinderella season.

With Cam Newton under center to start the season, the Panthers lost their first two games. Then Allen stepped in for an injured Newton and quickly won four-straight games, sparking a sudden quarterback controversy.

Since then, Allen has come back to earth, as the Panthers have dropped three of their last four games. None worse than today’s game against the Atlanta Falcons though, with Allen turning in his worst performance yet.

Allen completed 31 of his 50 passes on the day for 325 yards, but made countless costly mistakes. Those mistakes included four interceptions, as the Panthers failed to score a single touchdown.

Christian McCaffrey has hid a lot of Allen’s deficiencies this season, but even his great performance couldn’t save him against the Falcons.

McCaffrey racked up 191 all-purpose yards, with 121 of them coming off 11 catches as Allen’s primary receiver. He is really putting up MVP numbers, as McCaffrey stakes his claim for being the best running back in the NFL.

McCaffrey is good enough to lead this Panthers team into the playoffs, but the road is going to be much harder now that they are sitting with a 5-5 record.

Still, the biggest thing that we learned on Sunday is that there is no quarterback controversy in Carolina.

When Cam Newton is healthy and ready to play again next season, his job should be right there waiting for him.
