Redskins Trade For Case Keenum

The Washington Redskins will have a new starting quarterback next year, as it looks like they have landed their next journeyman to start under center.

With Alex Smith doubtful to return to the field, the Redskins will now trot out Case Keenum as their starting quarterback for the 2019 season.

Coming off a breakout season with the Minnesota Vikings a year prior, Keenum struggled in his lone season with the Denver Broncos, leading them to a lackluster 6-10 season.

After a down year that saw Keenum throw 15 interceptions to just 18 touchdowns, the Broncos weren’t able to bring much value back by dealing their quarterback.

Denver no longer had room for Keenum on their roster after agreeing to a separate deal that netted them Joe Flacco earlier in the offseason.

This trade essentially amounts to a salary dump for Denver, but at least they trade a seventh round pick for a sixth rounder to get something back in the deal.

For the Redskins they have a competent signal-caller to manage their offense in the meantime, but they need to go out and find a real franchise quarterback in the upcoming draft.

Bengals Cut Ties with Controversial Linebacker Vontaze Burfict

There is no one in the NFL that is more widely considered a dirty player than Vontaze Burfict.

Burfict has been suspended multiple times and is caught taking cheap shots on opposing players nearly every week that he is on the field.

The Bengals have stood by Burfict, because of his obvious talent, for years but they ultimately decided he wasn’t worth the headache and have officially released the former Pro Bowler.

While his time in Cincinnati has come to an end, we will never forget all of the punishing hits he has given throughout his career.

When the dust settles, it will be interesting to see if a win-now team decides to take a flier on Burfict despite his reputation.

‘Fitzmagic’ Takes His Talents to South Beach

After trading Ryan Tannehill was last week, the Miami Dolphins were left without a starting quarterback.

Now it seems that they have their guy, as the Dolphins have signed journeyman Ryan Fitzpatrick to be their signal caller for the 2019 season.

At this rate, Fitzpatrick will end up playing for over half of the teams in the NFL as he seems to land on a new squad every year.

Last year, “Fitzmagic” swept through the Tampa area for a few weeks, as Fitzpatrick lead the Buccaneers to a few early season wins. “Fitzmagic” could not maintain that success for long run, but those games were the highlight of an otherwise dismal season for the Buccaneers.

The Dolphins hope for the same kind of success, or lack thereof, this season as they are clearly in tank mode. Fitzpatrick winning a few games to bring excitement will be good for the fans, but he is really in Miami to lose.

We cannot possibly now how bad this season gets for the Dolphins, but it sure got more interesting with their signing of Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Johhny Manziel is finally back in the states after being banned from the Canadian Football League last month.

Not only is Manziel back, but he is also set to hit the football field again, as it was announced that he has signed with the Alliance of American Football.

The AAF is six weeks into their inaugural season and is in a desperate need of some star power.

Manziel is hands-down the biggest star to sign with the AAF and he now becomes the ironic face of this newfound spring football league.

While Manziel is one of the most controversial figures in sports, he is at least a draw that will bring eyes to the upstart AAF.

Manziel will now report to the Memphis Express, as they had the worst record in the AAF and were able to get the first crack at claiming him through their waiver system.

As crazy as it is to say, the entire future of the new AAF league may lie with Johnny Manziel, because if he plays well, their audience is likely to grow exponentially.
