Teddy Bridgewater to Remain with the Saints

A lot of times fans view free agency as a simple cut and dry process. Whoever offers the player the most money and the biggest role on the team, gets the player.

Those are not the only factors in where a free agent ultimately chooses to play though, as was the case for quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.

Bridewater decided to re-sign with the New Orleans Saints today, despite having what some would view as a better offer from the Miami Dolphins.

Bridgewater had already committed to the Saints last week, but ended up taking a free agent meeting with the Dolphins to see what they had to offer.

The Dolphins are need of new starting quarterback and Bridgewater was the clear top option on the open market. Bridgewater was also born in Miami, making it seem like a perfect match for both sides.

While the Dolphins could offer him a starting job and a return home, the money was reportedly not enough for Bridgewater to leave New Orleans.

By choosing to stay in New Orleans, it is clear that Bridgewater is prepared to wait until Drew Brees retires for his next chance to start.

While he is turning down the opportunity to play now, it is likely a wise decision to hold out for the Saints job, in which he has one of the best offensive-minded coaches in the NFL supporting him.

Bridgewater is now the heir apparent to Brees in New Orleans, but the question remains as to how long he will be waiting on the sidelines.

Matthews is a six-time Pro Bowler that helped lead the Packers to a win Super Bowl XLV. Matthews has not only been great on the field but has also been a star off of it, as one of the most marketed players in the league.

Now, Matthews career will continue away from the Packers as he has signed a two-year deal with the L.A. Rams.

Signing with Rams is a homecoming of sorts for Matthews, as he grew up in California and played college football at USC.

There is no one in the NFL that is more widely considered a dirty player than Vontaze Burfict.

Burfict has been suspended multiple times and is caught taking cheap shots on opposing players nearly every week that he is on the field.

The Bengals have stood by Burfict, because of his obvious talent, for years but they ultimately decided he wasn’t worth the headache and have officially released the former Pro Bowler.

While his time in Cincinnati has come to an end, we will never forget all of the punishing hits he has given throughout his career.

When the dust settles, it will be interesting to see if a win-now team decides to take a flier on Burfict despite his reputation.

‘Fitzmagic’ Takes His Talents to South Beach

After trading Ryan Tannehill was last week, the Miami Dolphins were left without a starting quarterback.

Now it seems that they have their guy, as the Dolphins have signed journeyman Ryan Fitzpatrick to be their signal caller for the 2019 season.

At this rate, Fitzpatrick will end up playing for over half of the teams in the NFL as he seems to land on a new squad every year.

Last year, “Fitzmagic” swept through the Tampa area for a few weeks, as Fitzpatrick lead the Buccaneers to a few early season wins. “Fitzmagic” could not maintain that success for long run, but those games were the highlight of an otherwise dismal season for the Buccaneers.

The Dolphins hope for the same kind of success, or lack thereof, this season as they are clearly in tank mode. Fitzpatrick winning a few games to bring excitement will be good for the fans, but he is really in Miami to lose.

We cannot possibly now how bad this season gets for the Dolphins, but it sure got more interesting with their signing of Ryan Fitzpatrick.
